Ami began his career as a government officer at the Budget Division, Ministry of Finance. He was responsible for looking into the implementation of Sistem Maklumat Pengurusan Belanjawan, which may be construed as the predecessor to the eSPKB systems which is in use now. In addition, he also looks into the Micro Accounting System, a component if the Modified Budgeting System. Subsequently he was transferred to the Institute of Diplomacy and Foreign Relations, Prime Minister’s Department. At the Institute, he was instrumental in introducing internet derived information workshops for foreign relations purposes under the public diplomacy programme.

He then left the civil service to join Albukhary Foundation where he was responsible to market the Islamic Arts Museum to the public at large. In the end, his love for IT processes and systems brought him to MSC Trustgate.com Sdn Bhd as a security engineer. He joined Digicert in 2001, looking into operational matters of the licensed Certification Authority. His current interest, apart from encryption, includes online security at large vis-à-vis governance, risk and compliance issues and processes. He was the Chief Technology Officer of Digicert, the de facto no 2. He left Digicert in 2012 after assisting them in securing extension to the efiling contract.

In Q3 2012, Ami joined SCAN Associates Berhad as the head of the Solutions Development. Subsequently, he was given the responsibility of heading Aegis Solutions Sdn Bhd, a fully owned subsidiary. He is pursuing his interest of developing not only Malaysian made solutions but local skill sets as well. He has more than 15 solid years in Public Key Infrasturcture (PKI) Implementation, from set up of Certification Authority to the applications implementation, from process to technical delivery. Ami is a mathematician by education and an Associate of the Royal College of Science, London. He is also a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and a founding member of ISOC My Chapter.
